I am writing to invite your school or classroom to join us in celebrating Global Dignity Day 2018, hosted by Global Dignity Canada.

This year’s celebration will be Wednesday, October 17th, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., with additional events and celebrations happening in the surrounding days and weeks.

We invite you to tune into the National Videoconference, where students will hear from inspiring speakers of varying backgrounds about their work to empower dignity in their communities, and across Canada. The videoconference will link 2,000 students and educators from Nova Scotia to Nunavut to celebrate dignity and share their own stories.

This year, GDD Canada’s 2018 “Team Human” campaign celebrates the varied and diverse interpretations of human dignity and how these forces play out in our lives, exploring areas like youth empowerment, gender diversity, anti-bullying, cultural diversity and beyond. Overall, it is our hope that by acknowledging existing inequalities, students will see that they have the ability to impact and enrich the lives of others through their own actions and choices, thereby promoting awareness and social consciousness during a key time in their development.

On GDD, the campaign will be rolled out in the following, simple way, via classroom workshops:

  1.  Invite students to discuss what dignity means to them in the classroom and in their individual lives;
  2. Invite students to capture that meaning by sharing a Facebook or Twitter post, along with the #TeamHuman tag;
  3. All of these posts will be aggregated by Global Dignity’s twitter bot and then showcased on the #TeamHuman impact map housed on the website. This will serve to celebrate our collective humanity and impact!

We ask that you confirm your participation through this form as soon as possible. If you have any questions whatsoever please do let me know.

I look forward to celebrating Global Dignity Day 2018 with you and your students! Sincerely, Olivia
