The Shoe Store Analogy

by Peter Skillen

My wife and I love to hike in the woods.  She needs a good shoe that flares out at the heel so that she doesn’t ‘go over’ on her ankle.  Yesterday, we happened to be in The Beach area of Toronto and stopped in at the Running Room.

We walked to the rack at the back of the store to look for such a shoe. Not all the shoes were visible because of the way their racks are arranged.  So we approached the sales clerk.

“May we see the rest of the shoes please?”

She replied, “Well, you don’t actually get to pick the shoes.  We do an analysis first, then we tell you the range of shoes you may choose from.”

Sort of reminds me of school.  🙂  😦
